How can I remove negatives in my report?
If you believe your report has an inaccuracy,
contact the credit bureau that supplied the credit report. They will
contact the company that
reported the information, and an investigation will be started. If your
claim is successful the information must be corrected or removed within
30 days.
You need a copy of your credit report before you can
dispute
a credit report item that it contains. If you were denied credit, the lender is obligated to provide you with
information on which bureau was used, the reasons for the adverse action, and where you can get a
free copy of the credit report that was used.
Reporting agencies will not remove negative information that is
accurate, other than to meet the requirement that bankruptcies be
removed from your report after 10 years, and most other derogatory
information after 7 years.
