Credit repair companies have been notorious for making untrue claims, and many consumers have ended up in worse shape. As a result of the abuses, the Credit Repair Organizations Act was passed by the federal government. Much of the credit repair hoopla you find on the Internet is illegal, not to mention - ineffective.
