Pre-approved Credit Offers
For many people, pre-approved credit offers are
common form of "junk mail". If a pre-approved offer
falls into the wrong hands, it can be used to commit identity theft,
provided the thief also finds out other things, such as your Social
Security number or date of birth.
|
Why Me? If you get pre-approved credit offers, it is
because you meet certain criteria. For a customer, such
as a credit card company, the credit bureau has gone through
their files to find names meeting the critera. Or, the lender
has give the credit bureau a list of names to pre-screen, and
you met the qualifications. |
